  • Blade Interactive Studios Ltd

It has come to my attention today that Blade Interactive Studios Ltd the makers of titles like WSC Real 08 / 09 have gone into administration.

It seems that the offices in Manchester are now vacant, the telephone number for the company has been cut off and the main website is offline although the site for Real 09 is still up and running.

Blade Interactive had the official license from World Snooker to use the players names and images in its Snooker titles so I am guessing that this license is now up for grabs by rival companies.

Shame to have seen the company go under as I was looking forward to the next release.

I refused to buy the most recent version of the WSC game on the basis they'd removed online multiplayer from the PC version - an unforgivably stupid omission from any modern game, much less a sports game.

For me it might be good if someone else can pick up the license as I think the series has gone backwards since WSC 2005 which is still my favourite snooker game

Liked the hard aiming arrows in that game. The animations were better and the use of the rest was done appropriately unlike the modern versions.

Be curious to see what happens next...

It's a good move that these muppets aren't in charge of the next game. Real Snooker was embarressing. It was that bad, it's difficult to pick a starting point.

It was far too easy. you could pot balls of the lamp shades. The other skill level was impossible.

The players looked like the elephant man when they were cueing. Too many unrealistic pots. The animation at the end of the game was poor. That doesn't happen. John Birgo telling us about the history of Snooker every 5 minutes. If a ball wobbles in the jaw, it hardly moved away from the pocket.

They are just some of the bad errors. I'm sure there are plenty more.

The problem is I think what has happened is the people who ran Blade have purchased the assets from the liquidator to start up again but just under a different name.

Is there any possibility of someone like codemasters picking up the license as they were invloved in the series before

Has anyone heard if another company has picked up the licence?

No I have not... I still think the WCS 2004 was the best... I think that was codemaster?

Couldn't have put it better myself! In terms of coding and graphics, Real was one of the laziest games I've ever seen.

                      Hi,

Does anyone know if WSC 2005 is compatible to play on the xbox360? I've downloaded the required updates but it aint happening. I can't be doing with the 2007 and 2009 versions. They're rubbish.

                      Cheers.

Maybe one day someone will make an xbox emulator for the PC, and we'll be able to enjoy all those 'old classics'.
