  • No save between frames?

I bought this on the 360 the other day and decided to start a season in 'full' mode. Is there really no option to save between frames, or am I missing something?? I'm guessing that full mode will mean the full 35 frames if you were to make it to the World Final... that's 18 solid frames, AT LEAST... more like 25+

Real snooker players get two days to play the World final, but Blade expect us to stare at a tv screen for 8 hours non-stop until someone wins????

Someone please tell me there's an option (or cheat) to save between frames??

I've only got WSC Real 07 at the moment, which I'm trading in for WSC Real 09 or WSC REal 11.

In 07, it autosaves between frames, but for some reason if you quit to the main menu the game thinks you are giving up and you lose everything. But if you quit the game completely by exiting straight to the dashboard, then when you come back you pick up where you left off next time you load up the game. Maybe it's the same in 09?

I only have the PC version and I have quit by pressing the Alt/F keys simultaneously when quitting and this sometimes, but I do stress, sometimes works and the game picks back up where you left it. But this does not always work, for example, I was playing in the world final and decided to take a break after 20 frames - my eyeballs were going - and quit to the desktop pressing the keys I mentioned. Rather than decide to go back into the game on returning I thought I would play a 3 frame match against Lee Martin. When this finished I then returned to the world final, where I was meant to be playing Joe Swail (quite a joke how he and Gerrard Green seem to be constantly in the top 8 - wonder which clown programmed the game) but instead he was replaced by Lee Martin whom I had just beaten.

Blade made an almighty cock-up when they released the PC version, they never patched the game or released any kind of updates. Given what it cost and how other games manufacturers update their sports sims or give you access to a decent editor, it is a disgrace that this company was even allowed to rip off customers which such arrogance and contempt.

I traded in 07 and now I have WSC 11, and it's a much better game. Admittedly the table is ridiculously slow (it plays like a table in a club where someone has spilt beer over the whole table), but if you can get used to that and accept it, then apart from that it's a great game. You can not only save between frames, you can even save during a frame. And Save & Quit has never let me down. The aiming aids are also slightly annoying, because they aren't as helpful as the ones in 07 (and presumably 09), and I have the positional aid off, so it's really quite hard. But my playing is improving all the time with the points earned.

Having said all that, I'm still considering buying 09, because it sounds like it might be like 11, but with the fast table and better aiming aids of 07. That's assuming that quitting to the dashboard between frames means you can save between frames.

Back in 04 and 05, there was no positional aid at all, THAT was hard. Butt now since 09 for PC is out quite a while, I use it of course, it made me do a 129 clearance not too long ago. My first century ever, and then such a nice clearance, and it was against Ronnie O'Sullivan. He must have had quite a stare in his seat at me.

Anyway, I haven't seen any "save between frames" option either in WSC 09 for PC, and that annoys me a great deal. I'm not the type of person who playes more than 5 frames straight per session without saving ... also for safety reasons ... if the game crashes for whatever reason in the middle of a match, where's my progress if I can't save?

I hope WSC 13 will be for PC as well, not just for PS3 like WSC 11 was. And then I really wish to have canon referees, too, with their original voices counting the score, saying "foul and a miss" etc., and of course telling a mobile phone freak to "switch it off or you're out" ... lol. Would have to giggle if it was Michaela Tabb.

I'm really enjoying WSC Real 11 on the Xbox 360 now. I have aiming aids on, positional aid off (I've never wanted to be told where the white will end up), and I only upgrade my character's stats to 10 (I'm even considering starting again and limiting them them to 5), to make the game more challenging, and it definitely works! The RPG aspect gives me the freedom to make the game as hard as I like, so I no longer have to rely on Easy/Medium/Hard difficulty, which usually results in me wishing if there was a difficulty level in between.

The only slight annoyance (apart from the slow table) is that you have to have the commentary switched on at the minimum commentary setting to have the referee speak. Which means putting up with the ridiculous commentary every now and then. The referee and the commentators really should have been separate sound settings.

Oh, I see. So, are there canon referees or just generic ones? All male? What do they say? Just the points, or also foul and miss calls and other stuff?

No it's just a generic male referee. He says the points, foul and a miss, and I think that's about it. Personally I just like to be able to have the points total spoken by the ref.
