It depends on what the cue is, is it 1st or 2nd edition, is it ash or maple, full length and standard tip size?

All these things need to be taken into account when valuing old cues.
Just because its old, doesn't mean its worth a fortune!!

Yes your correct Burwat champ..Its a second edition with a lovely brown macasar ebony hand spliced butt 581/2 inches long 10.2mm tip and is stamped 17oz thats all i can tell you just know...i have also played a few frames with it and its not to wippy or heavy at the butt to me its perfect...but this is only my opinion of the cue.

forgot to mention that it is ash..

This is the one, only 9mm tip so i take it its been tapered ?

Yeh i think it has been tapered...this one though is quite a sought after one because its an 18oz cue..seems more people want this one...dont know why !

I personally would not have paid £250 for that cue because as a collector the badge was too worn and the tip too thin, especially when as a collectable cue there are a lot of good examples of the Burwat knocking about.

However it may have been bought by somebody wishing to use the cue as a playing cue in which case its a completely different ball game as it may have been exactly what the buyer was looking for and to have the same cue made by the top cue makers would cost more than the £250 the buyer parted with.

I have had several mint Burwats and the only one I paid over £200 for was an immaculate maple example.

Burwat Champions are also notoriously bad playing cues so if you can find a good player you are doing well.

Hello, i have to burwat. both are second edition. the first is in original condition with an ivory badge (between 1920 and 1928). The second (between 1930 - 1940) has been restored by Robin Cook and is more than a modern cue with a 10 or 10.5 tip and a shaft 80 or 90 years old. Both badges are very nice with original screw.
