  • Joe Davis Picture Cue

Does anyone know anything about this cue? It's a hand-spliced ash cue with a photo of Joe Davis set into the butt. The butt appears to be ebony & is of two splices rather than the more normal four.I can't find a makers name but I'm guessing it was made in the 1980's.

    can you get better photos?

instead of using the attachment function, use image sharing sites like ImgBB
they do not crop the resolution

You can use a free image-sharing site such as ImgBB, without registering (you can register for free), to upload your images, you may have to do the “not a robot” checks quickly.
    ImgBB.com
    Click on "Start Uploading"
Browse to the file and select it, click Open
    Click "Upload".
Change "Embed Codes" to "BBCode full linked", then hover over the code, a "COPY" will appear, click this.
Go to your TSF post and paste. You can repeat for multiple images in a single post.
There are other sites as well.

    Up the TSF! :snooker:

not seen one of those before
I would have thought earlier than 80s
          but then 3/4 joint...

I have seen two-butt splices before, but not the photo of JD like that

hope someone else comes on with good info

That trend started in the 80's of having a long extn piece for a 3/4 joint, but I think you may have an older cue there which has been customised by a cue maker of that time. Possibly Michael Dunham, others on here will know more than me though.

Wow, what a beautiful picture on the cue. I reckon you should try and put the pics on Andy Hunter Facebook page as I'm sure he would know a little about it if it was a regular thing.

Either way he would offer an opinion as would Dave Smith.

Andy Hunter thinks it's a fairly recent custom piece.
