  • GBL Cue butt splice /glue lines natural or Not?

    Hi Newbie on site.
just purchased a second hand GBL 1 Piece cue from a seller on eBay, I've read about glue lines possibly being visible in cue butt's where the splices are clued together.
I'd just like to know if this is natural or not whether this has Been damaged repaired, see wots like a hole in the ebony right at base where mini butt screws into.

seems like as its my 1st post I can't upload pics.
can send to an email if someone will kindly take a look.

    kind regards.
    Mark.

    you can try the following:

How to add images to your TSF posts

You can use a free image-sharing site such as ImgBB, without registering (you can register for free), to upload your images, you may have to do the β€œnot a robot” checks quickly. There are other image sharing sites as well.

    ImgBB.com

    Click on "Start Uploading".

Browse to the file and select it, click Open.

Auto delete image - leave as "Don't autodelete".

    Click "Upload".

Change "Embed Codes" to "BBCode full linked".

Hover over the code in the box, a "COPY" will appear, click this.

Go to your TSF post and paste.

You can repeat for multiple images in a single post.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Good pictures Mark. Very clear. The crack in the bottom of the butt is quite bad. Did the seller let you know of this before purchase?

To me that is a split along one of the joins of the splices.
This split could be due to shrinkage in the wood and/or the player being a bit rough with the cue and tapping it too much onto hard flooring.

Did the seller clearly show this in his description and images?
If they did not, they should be your first point of contact to discuss that the item is not as described.

If I was you, I would capture a copy of the original advert before you contact them in case they change anything

On a positive note, any decent cue-doctor or maker should be able to fix this invisibly

                Hi.
there was no description in the listing of this and no clear specific image of this either

That’s bad. Looks like the seller has not been entirely truthful with his listing. If you’re not happy with the cue I would try and return it. Mind you if it was cheap enough it might be worth getting it repaired. Unfortunately there’s a lot of sh%t for sale on E-bay and it’s a case of “let the buyer beware”. Good luck.

In that case, was it cheap? Surely must've been a low price for you to be tempted. More importantly have you played with it and is it solid i.e. no loose feel on the hit? If it plays ok and was cheap it still a bargain.

I wouldn't say it was cheap lol, most ive paid for a cue especially 2nd hand, it was just over Β£200 included was a Green baize Pro Lock Aluminium Case 1pc Double – Black
The same range of cue on green baize is around Β£250-Β£290
not had chance to use it, tomorrow i will do.
