  • John PARRIS Cue Question

In a number of current threads and loads of others we see and hear about various JP cue models. There seem to be LOTS of them.

Can anyone post a rundown on all the Parris cue models out there...
their names and what are the differences between them and are there dates associated with certain models and serial numbers?

In one thread we have a "Paragon" we have a "Special", in another there is also an "Ultimate".
Are the ones called "Classic", "Ambassador", "Elite", "Superior", and "Exclusive" just off-the-rack production cues, and the others "bespoke" ?

    Cheers.

Ambassador: 57.5" Same as classic but with S.D butt join and 16" butt join. Ash shaft. 9mm tip.

Champion: 58" Handspliced Ebony Butt, 16" butt join. Kingwood with thin maple veneer, single splice. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip.

Challenge: 57" Handspliced Ebony Butt, 12" butt join. With Purpleheart rosewood face & green/blue veneer. Ash shaft. 10mm tip.

Traditional: Handspliced Ebony Butt, 1pc or center joint. With single-facing splice in Ovangkol with a thick maple veneer. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip

Regal: Handspliced Ebony Butt, 16" butt join. With a double-facing splice in rosewood with green veneers. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip.

Elite: Handspliced Ebony Butt, 16" butt join. With four secondary splices of tulipwood. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip.

Superiour: Handspliced Ebony Butt, 16" butt join. With four secondary splices of Olivewood with white and purple veneers. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip.

Exclusive: Handspliced Ebony Butt, 16" butt join. With four secondary splices of Rosewood with green veneers and a single-facing of ebony with a green veneer. Ash shaft. 9.5mm tip.

      Custom Cues.
The custom cues are broken down onto 3 catagories. Special, Paragon and Ultimate. This is simalar to Hunt and Osbournes Red, Green and Black plates whereby the shafts and woods used are of a better quality.

      Limited Editions.
These will just have "Limited Cue" on the badge and sometimes hold a number.

No idea on the "serial number". Maybe someone else can enlighten us.

        Thanks mate...
do you know if JP has always used these names for his cues consistently over the past decades,
or are there other names... and which cues did/does he number and register?

        Cheers!

The names and designs are the same since a loooong time.
Only Ultimate and Limited Edition cues are numbered.
About 15 to 20 years ago the Ultimate cues had no serial number but the zip code of Parris and before that only the name "Ultimate Cue".
I am confused... Oh wait... Maybe I'm not...

Your reply was one hour after Noel has started thread.
Means 30 minutes thinking about how-to and 30 minutes for doing it?

I have had one that says "John Parris hand spliced" and John Parris told me via Email that it was made in the late 80's.
Also have seen some with postal code.
I have seen one that says "John Parris Challenger" and the owner told me it was at one point Allison Fisher's cue. It was a much shorter cue than normal.

There are a couple of master cue models on ebay now too. I think one has a starting bid of 300quid which is quite an appreciation of the original price. Need much better pics to get that much for a machine spliced cue on ebay.
                            Tear up that manure-fed astroturf!

The ltd editions aren't numbered individually, just the number for that design i.e ED 1 - 8 or 9
I bought a brand new ED 8 a couple of years ago, and it was crap , paid 500 then sold it on ebay straight away for 300, I felt a bit guilty to be honest even at that price, and didn't even try to hype it up in the listing lol
