I have only recently started playing snooker and i am far from a ronnie o sullivan but i still want to buy my own cue instead of borrowing someone eles, but the problem is i really dont no what to look for, whats fake, and what is right for me. i am only a beginer my price range is around £120

so if any one has any advice they could lend me wheather it be on what website to look on, what is the best wood or simply a good cue you have seen that suits my needs i would be very grateful if you give me some of your knoledge.
    thanks soz

you are only a begginer, so you dont need to spend a lot on a cue to get started with the basics...

the only thing i will suggest ona a cue for you is what i suggest to anyone else... dont worry about the name on it or the price if its a fake cue or not... if it plays right, feels right, then buy it...

thats the only criteria you should look for.

I will strongly advise you to search for a good 2nd hand cue for starter cos you will need to play with a few variety of spec in order to shortlist the spec the suits you.

                    Hello Soz,

I am planning to sell my cue (still in top condition) together with its cue case. Total cost would be £140 including delivery to your country. Let me know if you are interested.

Soz There's dozens of posts on this site regarding choosing the right cue. You need to start with some idea of what you like. Ash or Maple? Most folks go for Ash. One piece or 2? Most folks go for 2 piece 3/4 jointed. The more expensive cues are handmade. The Mastercraft site that Brendon147 mentions are handmade and start around £130. Once you add postage you'll be over budget. If you're just beginning I don't think you need to spend this sort of money unless you're really serious about the game and plan on playing a lot. Take a look at the Craftsman Cues website. You'll be able to pick up a nice machine made cue for under £100. There's a nice one called VICTOR for around £60. Even better if you live near their showroom in Leeds. Go in and try a few. There can be an awful lot to think about and the choice of cues is huge but you have to start somewhere and I'd suggest you try to decide on two things:-
                      1) What tip size do I like? 10mm or smaller.
                      2) What weight do I like? Light 17.5ozs or heavy 19.5 ozs
Mick 142's offer sounds too good to turn down. Hope he doesn't get swamped with posts!

Some decent advice hear. If you are a beginner I would try first id poss. Craftsman is a great place to do that. You can then get a feel for tip size weight balance etc. Other places you can try are Greenbaize in the north east Thurstons Liverpool, Birmingham.

For your money I would buy second hand myself.

I always regretted buying a middle range Peradon cue because I ended up changing it later. You might want to spend a little more to get a cue your really happy with long term.

Will you need a case in for that money?

£125 for a Black Prince according to the website. I'm in UK and was charged £8.95 for delivery a month ago. Maybe Dave at Mastercraft would do a Christmas Special Offer? Watford makes a good point that if you need to add a case (which is essential in my opinion) that will push the cost up quite a bit.
Mick 142's offer still best by far.
