anybody here can teach me about selecting soft medium or hard tips? how do you choose either one of these? or how do you know wat to choose? and what is the advantage disadvantage of choosing either 1? or what is the difference? is it down to personal preference or other matters?

There is no science about choosing which density of cue tip to use, it all boils down to personal preferences...
You will have to try it out in-order to know what type of density suits your game.
As for me, i have always like playing with harder density tip.
After being intro by a playing mate to try out pool cue tip in replacement of regular leather tip, i have struck with using layer tip ever since.
I m currently using moori M with my UT maple cue, i feel that the combination between my maple shaft stiffness & the tip density is just rite.
I m able to play all type of shot without any compensation in angle.

I have just gone from a elkmaster to a talisman soft tip and it has made a great difference. I play with a lot of screw and every now and then in a game miss cue, but so far with the new tip i have'nt and it keeps its shape no matter how i play.
Its fitted to a Peradon & Fletcher Tudor ash cue

i use a cheap blue diamond tip which flatten quite often, the screw effect is very hard to achieve, even if i hit it hard and at the LOWEST point of the ball anyone could possibly hit,it gives me a mini stun screw affect, mayb my technique is a little bad,but it could not possibly give such affect even though.

For layered tip, here are my choices :-
1) Mike Wooldridge super laminated tip (soft); &
2) Tan laminated tip (medium) made in Thailand (Unclevit told me this tip is as good as Talisman but a lot cheaper).
I will avoid using single pressed tip (elkmaster/blue diamond/ etc etc).
Hope this helps.My cueing sucks

Yes, the Omin laminated tip is so much cheaper than the tailsman tip.
IMO, i will rather buy these O'min tip then spend big money on tailsman tip.
on side note;
I still have some surplus O'min tan tip & tailsman tip available for sale.

follow through on nearly every shotIf practice makes perfect, and no one's perfect, then why practice?
