        AHA!

              I think it must be that neck of the woods. Somebody might be able to pin it down more exactly. I'm afraid it has been in a case, in a shed for about 6 years! I found it today - I thought it was lost when I moved house. BUT it's still straight!

                Be careful mate when moving it inside. If its been out for a while and you bring it inside with heating and dry air it could form splits and the splice could lift.

                  Thanks for the advice Dan. I thought about it drying out and splitting, so even though I didn't like to do it, I put it back in the shed ( sharing its case with spiders and other crawling things!)
                  What would be a good way to re-introduce the wood to an atmosphere?
                  It's only a michine-spliced cue but it would be a shame to destroy it, now I've found it again.
