  • King Cues

    Hello everyone,

I have looked on the boards but I haven't found anything about King Cues. I went through to Craftsman cues the other day and spend 3 hours trying a range of cues including Cuecraft, Mastercue, Peradon, King Cue and a range of other, lesser known (to me at least) cues.

I found my cue after about twenty minutes and as soon as I picked it up I knew that it was the one for me. I tried a wide variety of cues but kept on going back to the one that I eventually purchased.

Does anyone else use a King Cue or does anyone know their background or reputation?

    Thanks.

There's a link to their website at greenbaize.com . They're a new company based in Thailand apparently. You'll see a few posts about them in the GBL forum.

what was the quality like, they look interesting but I'm always a bit scepticle about overseas cue manufacturers. THe cues may look good but what are the playing characteristics like, did you try out any of the other king cues on display, if so did they all feel better quality than the other brands you tried?

Have you heard from any good players anything abt them?
They seem quite pretty in terms of design

very good quality cues - more expensive at trade than master cue.

I'd be interested to know what Stu at Green Baize thinks of these as he stocks them & how they compare with the GBL cues in terms of quality.........but would assume there ok if Craftsman are stocking them

I spoke to Stu about these cues the other day,and 2 of them are en route as we speak, so if you're interested I'll post a wee review when I get them ...

What Stu told me is that the cues are very, very good quality, comparable with his GBL range, excellent-looking and -playing cues with a huge variety of splicing available, perhaps too many choices! He said that the owner is the ex-partner and founder of Ukrit of Master cues, so the cuemaking has a lot of experience behind it. Stu also said that he was very impressed with the samples and 1st delivery he'd received, according to him those cues were among the best he'd ever had!

I visited Stu at Greenbaize a couple of months back to try out a few mastrecue and GBL's. I found that the Mastercues shafts were too chunky and the GBL'S a bit whippier and heavy for my liking. Stu being the kind of man who likes to help said " no problem" and passed me a few other cues in my prefered spec to try out. Amongst these cues were a couple of names that I had never heard of and one was a Kingcue Maka Burr, ( slightly cheaper than GBL's ), that as the Op already mentioned earlier about hitting the right note, immediately seemed to be my perfect cue. The shaft taper is uniform and slim, stiff as a poker and handsome to look at. The butt is also not too fat, very attractive well finished Maka burr and the balance spot on. There were a couple of things that I was not 100% happy with and that was the wax finishing, as being a very hot day at the time, found the cue after a while was not always flowing through. Once again Stu helped out by sanding it down while I waited, though after sanding you could feel some of the chevron grain.
After all of that, this cue is still quality and you would know it as soon as you picked it up. I would have no hesitation in reccomending anyone looking to get a new cue to try these out.
I keep meaning to post some pics of my cue, but very busy at the mo', so shall post some a.s.a.p.

A friend of mine is using a King cue, quite stiff but heavily laquerred.

I bought the Zeus cue for £125.

It feels so much nicer (to me) than the other cues in the shop, I tried out some much more expensive cues too. It looks nice and has a really ergonomic butt.

I feel real confidence when playing shots with it and I am so happy with my purchase.

It feels solid, responsive and has a natural finish with no lacquer on the shaft.

I'll try and get a couple of pic's on.
