what does everyone do to make the side of your tips hard to stop from mushrooming? I use to use and old peace of Leather and just wet the side of my tip with a bit of spit and rub the leather peace on the tip and that worked well, but i lost that, so im just woundering what everyone else does.

Try and get another piece of leather. That was a good way to get the job done.

..............or a piece of denim, or the BACK of some wet/dry paper, or the BACK of some emery cloth (similar to denim)............ Also, 500 euro notes work PARTICULARLY well, but you wouldn't want to loose it like the piece of leather you had!! :snooker:

Fold a £20 note over several times and use that, or just use your "loaf"!

Hello. I'm not new to the game, but new to the terms I guess.....so I'm not really sure what 'mushrooming' means regarding the sides of the tip.....but if I'm getting this right....then are you referring to the sides expanding a bit with prolonged use ?

If I'm correct, then can't sandpaper be used ?

It is when the tip has got wider than the ferrule. Of course it can be sanded away.
