  • Talisman Soft or Mike Wooldrige Lamianted Supertip

    Hi All,

The time has come to replce my tip. I've always been a talisman soft guy, having tried most pressed tips and different hardnesses of laminated, but have heard some good stuff about Mike Wooldridges Laminated Supertips. The Talisman Soft works great for me(mainly UK 8 ball) but i'm always keen to try something new.

Anybody out there got anything to say about them?

    thanks guys,

    Gamma

I have used both of these tips, but this season I have started using pro ganite tips. These are more like a combination of the two. Very good firm tip which retains shape for a long time (like Talisman) plus I also find they hold chalk very well too (like the supertip). I cant fault them to be honest and I would definitely recommend them over any other tip.

Thanks JC, i have thought about these before, these are pressed tip aren't they? But with characteristics more like laminated tips. My only concern with these is that they may be a little on the hard side, as both the talisman Hard and Med were just too rock solid and i didnt get the 'feel' when playing, might give them a go though, if they are as good as people say then they are great value.

I've got a MW Super Tip on my cue just now and I wouldn't say they are like laminated tips at all, just a normal pressed tip.

I've had a couple of Talisman S and also a Kamui Black M on my cue so I've tried laminated tips as well.

The MW Super Tip is like an Elkmaster.

I have tried nearly all the tips mentioned in this post, and as well fit pretty much all of the cues in the local area.
Many of my clients love the soft talisman, I myself could not get on with them, as I to am an 8 Ball player (I hit the ball fairly hard) I find that after a while that these tips do not hold the chalk that well (triangle green), and as such I miss cue a fair amount.
I have experimented with the Medium and hard compounds, still no look.
I tried the granite tips sold by ADR147, couldn't get on with them.
I have now tried the Mike Wooldrige Super pressed tips, and straight of the bat, seriously impressed. Slightly cheaper than Talisman, and in my opinion the best tip I have ever used. yet to try his laminated though, but am completely happy with the pressed version. cheers

I have also Used Most Tips and I prefer the Mike Wooldridge over the Talisman but does Depend on the Person?

As some like there Tips Hard? Which i dont as I play Snooker & Pool, But some like Hard Tips for Snooker.

Also the Mike Wooldridge Tips are alot Cheaper! Less than Half the Price!!

Hi Gaz, How much softer would softer would you say the MW is compared to the talisman soft, out of 10, 10 being the hardest i would say talisman soft is about 6!!

I like the idea behind the MW laminated because it is designed more for the english games

I prefer Aurora tip more than Talisman S tip, it is much more responsive and hold more chalk IMO
