  • 9 & 10mm sized tips

Any major differences in the two sized tips? Im wanting to purchase a hand crafted cue. My current cue tip is 10mm.

If you like a flush tip then 10 mill will be fine , though they can be tricky to get dead center . Other wise with an 11 mill you can either leave the overhang or trim flush .

If your used to a 10 mm tip, then a 9 mm will feel so so small !
You wouldn't think so would you, but also the shaft will be more than likely be slimmer and it will feel totally different.
Plus on a smaller tip you need to be so much more more accurate with your cue ball striking, as you may put unwanted side on the ball. For a good compromise go for a 9.5 mm tip

Thanks for quick reply. Would having a 9mm tip make the cue shaft thinner? The cue i have feels a bit chunky.

Yes there is Massive difference in 9mm Tip than a 10mm Tip? It Really depends what you want the Cue for and what you are Used Too! If its for Snooker I would recommend a 9.5mm/10mm Tip but if your Playing Pool then 9mm Tip as 10mm on Pool or Small Snooker Table is too Big.

          Gaz.

Any ideas on length of cues too? i've watched the JP video about right cue length. i think i need somethink like a 55". Im guessing resale value if i was to sell it would drop down considerably.

Yes 55" is a rare length so getting a buyer (at a decent price) would be very tricky.
Best to ask a coach but couldn't you just use a more regular length cue, and hold the butt a wee bit further up ???

Yeah, i thought as much. a 30 year old trying to sell a cue to a 14 year old haha. Its because im so used to playing with the chiseled bit with my palm. I'd prob have to get a regualr length of 57" and get used to playing all over again. Im not very good anyway.

Leave 2 inches out the back should be no trouble. As you say, you won't feel the cut out as much or at all, but otherwise it should make no difference.. unless you have a tight grip with the back 2 fingers, then you might find it restricts your follow through.
