  • Squeaky Joints

Hi, I've had my pool cue for about a year now and when I take my cue apart there is a high pitch squeaking noise, which is very unpleasant. I think it's because of chalk getting into the joint and I was wondering if anyone knew a way of stopping this ? :snooker: Thanks...

The tiniest bit of wd40 on a rag would do the trick im sure.... (Q one of the cue makers saying thats the worst thing you could do to a joint ever!!)

Hi, thanks for the speedy reply, I think I will wait for the cue makers second opinion although I don't see why what you said wouldn't work :snooker: Thanks

Im sure as long as you spray it on a rag and not into/onto the cue you will be fine....

Recalled the armourer saying something about WD40 being bad for cleaning out the rifle barrels when I was in draft. Maybe a drop of Singer oil would do the trick.

Singer "sewing machine" oil or some other light machine oil would probably clean the joint thread out for you.

no no no! - wd40 is not the way to go - it will stink for one thing! - first thing to try is to clean the brass with 0000 wire wool.

I've used a candle stick before and held it against the thread as I turn the cue. Then every month or so, wipe clean with a cloth and rinse, repeat. May not be to everyones' taste tho.

I would suggest vaseline. But clean the threads first.

a tiny amount of machine oil would do the trick but also if you rub the threads with the lead of a pencil a few times that will also work.
