Joint on 3/4 cue

Are the joints on 3/4 cues normally fitted dry or is glue added before they are screwed into the butt/shaft etc.

If glue is added then is drilling the joint out the only way to remove it?

Heat the joint with small blowlamp or similar ( carefully ) and it should come out easier.
