  • Custom cue between £200-£300

    Hi

Ive been trying to get a pro ash cue made off craftsman for a couple of months but have given up due to them saying they cant supply a nice bit of ash to my spec.

I have a budget off between £200-£300 to spend, how many cue makers are there on here who would fit into that price bracket?

This is what im looking for

    1pc cue
    58 3/4"
    17.5oz
    Ash shaft
    9.5mm tip
    Ebony butt
    Four splices of olivewood
    Sd joint
    6" olivewood minibutt
    Telescopic extension

Really wanted a craftsman as they are local to me but they just seemed not to want the business!

thats your best option. although not custom made you wont get better at any price and best of all you can test it out before you buy although Stu does not keep too many cues above 58 inches

Did you try Jason Owen or Crispian jones you might get single splice for that money not sure if you will get 4 splices tho!

Mastercraft are another option, can be a pain to get hold of sometimes but certainly have a good selection of ash to choose from and might have something to suit.
However from hearing that Craftsman couldn't find a suitable shaft it sounds to me like you may struggle to find what you are looking for from most cue makers. Only the big boys like Parris have a large enough selection of ash to get through to find the right piece, the others you are relying on a bit of luck or timing.

Best option is probably overseas, maximus cues in Thailand who are gaining a very good reputation probably have the best selection of shafts of any cue maker on the planet right now and very good prices too, well within your budget.

You sound like a cue makers nightmare Yeah i think you'd be better ordering from Thailand, even i know Stu(greenbaize) will have his GBL cues shipped over in September, he could add a custom order onto that though it might be a bit of a wait if your impatient, the price you get Thai made cues you can't beat them with a stick =p

SORTED! My mate sold me a northwest 1pc cue + a telescopic extension for £140! Been playing at greenbaize all day with it and got on really well with it :-)

What were you looking for in a piece of ah exactly?

I like my shaft to have between 5-7 chevrons with the 1st chevron (nearer the tip end about 3" away) the usual 'parris ultimate' request lol the northwest cue is the right length and tip size and i seemed to play well with it so will stick with this for a while until something more my taste comes along...
