I may need some advice here.

Last weekend I decided to take care of my JP Superior and to put some linseed oil on it. I applied the oil then lete it soak for 24 hrs, then have a 2nd round for 24 mors hrs.
The problem is that I didn't notice the cloth I used was losing very smal bitts of fibers on each pass.....and these micro fibers are no stuck on the wood as the oil stayed with them while the wood soaked it.

So now my cue is not looking good with plenty of tiny bits of fibers well stuck on the wood and very hard to remove! I've already wiped it down several time with a damp cloth and warm water to try to remove it but with more or less success. I also used very precauciously some abrasive texture but I don't want to scratch the cue...

And the cue is a bit sticky now, which I'm not pleased at all with...

any advice on how to treat the problem and regain a silky smooth feeling?

    thanks,

Didn't try the white spirit, as I admit to be a bit skeptical

I used to wire wool to remove things but it's not enough, cue is till sticky and I don't like the current aspect at all. It's like I put too much oil at first ans it created kind of a layer that dried over night.
I start to think that maybe I should gently sand-paper it (with soft grade sandpaper) to remove the current finish and then apply some cue doctor oil to re-finish the cue.....

I'm gutted about my 'mistake' as I'm due to play the final of the French snooker cup late May and I need my cue in top shape to practice before that!
                Me idiot.... :/

if you rub down use very fine paper, 1200grit upwards, then a light coat of oil and wipe off any excess after half hour or so. Leave overnight than buff the hell out of it and keep regularly buffing for a week or so and it should be smooth.

White spirit would probably sort it out. Just don't go nuts. A minor application into a clean cloth and wipe down then buff dry.

Looks a bit patchy tbh. Maybe as Parris cues seal the butt with wax the oil hasn't soaked it and possibly left it patchy/sticky? Does the shaft feel OK?

Well the butt has also suffered from the dry oil. basically the all cue is sticky.

But I agree, it's really patchy.

Sounds like you need to send it away for a re-finish , if you are not confident of doing it yourself .
Still trying to pot as many balls as i can !
