  • Buying a stock of snooker cues

    Hi all,
Hoping somebody on here can give me a bit of advice.

For a while now I have been thinking about starting to attempt to establish a specialist snooker equipment shop and so am in the process of researching where it would be possible to get stock from.

I appreciate it may be a bit of a strange question to ask, but where, if anywhere, would I be able to enquire about purchasing a stock of snooker cues and/or other snooker related accessories?

    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

I guess it depends on the market you are aiming at. Personally I think setting up a specialist shop is a bit of a gamble because there are already 2 very well established companies who do this already in Green Baize and Craftsman cues, not to mention smaller outlets such as snookershop, Chesworth cues, billiards boutique, abc snooker etc and many others through Ebay.

Not trying to put you off your idea but personally I think that if you need to come on here asking the question about where to get stock from then its unlikely you have considered the kind of rivals you are up against and being able to make a decent enough profit to make it work. Hopefully someone will be able to steer you in the right direction in terms of suppliers but the profit margins are not as great as you think.

I look at the players in my league and I'm alway amazed how many use cheap Chinese cues. Maybe that's worth looking at, although eBay is floodied with 'em so maybe not a great idea!

Stay clear IMHO of setting up a snooker shop unless you have a wife who has a decent job and you do it as a hobby, but the profit margins just starting out will be terrible and like the other post mentioned with craftsman cues and green baize you will get frozen out

Start by contacting cue makers the only problem is that most of the top uk makers have massive waiting times your talking 1/2 years. If i was you and starting up a shop.

Just start by getting contacts and see if they would supply 1st

hand made cues andy travis , mastercraft, master cue, ton praram, craftsman cues, jim evans, niche try adr147 for a selection of older cues.

          Machine made master cue, phoenix

cheaper end cues try woods, dunns or some of the ebay sellers there easily found just search through cues on ebay. Then you need accessories try peradon they supply everything from tips, balls, rests, chalk. Cases try cuecraft there's plenty of leather cases makers to choose from be ready to put out a massive outlay.
