A guy called Michael Duffy from N Ireland played with a black graphite cue. He was very good and turned pro.

            Alternative Cue Materials

the old carbon fibre cues were a wood core wrapped in a thin carbon fibre sheet.
A friend has an old one and at the ferrule you can see the wood inside after years of him rubbing the ferrule and shaft.
Not sure if there were cues 100% carbon fibre. maybe US pool cues ?

I had it made to my specs so it was 19oz

It was the hit... all wrong from it.

This one never had wood in it... It was cut down so that a kid in the club could play with it.

I think that was Jim Black.

I've got some beech that I'm going to make a cue/s with. Had the wood for six months now in the form of 35mm square blanks and it hasn't moved at all so fingers crossed.
Similar to maple but pinkish in colour rather than white.
