  • G Cues Vs Master Craft

    Hi guys,

Having just had a play with MW's Virtual Cue Maker I should like to know if anyone can share their opinion on the following.

Which cue plays the best, G Cue or Master Craft?

As some of you will know MW's Virtual Cue Maker enables the user to receive quotes from MW himself and MW recommended Cue Makers.
G Cue and Master Craft fall into the recommendations category. I simply can not afford a genuine MW Cue, but would like the next best thing if possible.

    Your opinions will be appreciated!
    Thanks
    Jason

    G Cues Vs Master Craft

IIRC G cues are made by Gav who used to work for MW.
Mastercraft cues are good value for a good cue.
A friend had a custom cue made a few years ago and still loves it.

I might be wrong but doesn't Gavin still work for Mike but does G cues under Mike's steerage so to speak?

He's on facebook under G Cues

Gav's cues look lovely in the pics ive seen and he's worked for Mike for a long time, not sure if he left or not but regardless Mike will have taught him well, so despite never trying one im sure they'll be good. Mastercraft are very good cues, my pool cue is a custom Mastercfaft and i love it, a few mates use their cues also.

Mastercraft I think would be a better choice. Certainly better value for money, you are paying a premium with these 'g cues' just because he worked with MW.

Playability is just too subjective but you very rarely see Mastercraft cues come up for sale that often, a sign that most players that buy them stick with them.

Thanks cueman - I did the Ebay acid test last night and you're right. Not many of these cues being put up for sale.
Thank you all for the advise.

If you go for either then go direct, dont pay Mike W a cut just because youve gone through his website.

Yeah that's right, use his website that's taken ages to design and build, then deny him his small amount of commission.

If it wasn't for his website would the OP even thought of Gavs or Mastercraft cues? And we wonder why the top cue makers get the hump sometimes, lol

What % is this small commission? Is it small, medium or large?

@lone wolf. If you want a KD cue amongst the best, message J6 or if you want a badge and know name, get in contact with Ton Praram. £300 will buy you a cue no cue maker can beat for quality. I thought G made a cue how he wanted with his chosen timbers to but to your specs. I wouldn't accept that personally. Maybe it's changed now?
