  • Changing my cue tip

Hey Guys Im new to this forum and have a very important question about my snooker cue. I was gifted a hand made cue by a family member and looks really sweet. It came with a repair kit and many forms of cue tips. But i noticed a problem: the diameter for the tip installed is 11mm, in my case i do have some 9.5mm snooker tips and others that are bigger. So i said to myself 11mm is not good for snooker. I was wondering if i could just glue the 9.5 mm one on top of a 11mm ferruler without a problem.
Here is a pic of the cue incase it helps https://imgur.com/a/brsmg

Many thanks in advance and sorry if I explained it in a bad way!

That looks like it might be an american pool cue. Any more pictures?

Cool. Definitely a pool cue. I wouldn't use it for anything other than pool. If you just put a small tip on you won't be able to see where your aiming on the cue ball, aside from the fact that the cue will play weird. It's not really adaptable either. It couldn't be tapered down thinner because the taper won't be conical like a snooker cue, and it would potentially ruin what might be a good cue. It looks nice. The style is what's called a 'Merry Widow' in the states- a plain cue with some detailing in the butt sleeve. Being that type of cue makes it hard to place in terms of maker. I've seen a fair few pool cues, and it's unusual to have the male joint in the shaft. You should post some photos on the azbilliards forum, someone may be able to identify the cue or give you some better insight into its origins

Looks similar to some Helmstetter and Mueller cues I've seen in my time over at AZBilliards, what with the wood pin. Typically carom or 3 cushion cues, but admittedly I'm not entirely sure on the spec. Worth doing some research on though, pretty cool cues all round!
