• Handmade English 8 ball pool cue required on tap,up to £250

i am new on here and have read the threads about snooker cues and the importance of specialist makers.

I am after a cue that is average in weight and size handmade by one of the top guys if possible. I am also impatient (I know, very naughty) and would like to purchase and have it send immediately.

Are there any of the top makers able to meet the budget for such a pool cue. (My snooker is non-existent these days). I play pool for a team and fancied upping my game.

Any quick ideas or solutions would be very much appreciated. I am willing to buy 'blind' rather than travel the country to feel a cue first. The reason is I have only ever used friends cues that are cheap, I have never owned a good one. Thank you in advance.

I've got a tenner here that says a £250 cue wont up your game and a ton that says owning your own and playing with no other will.

Get my drift? £100 will get you a decent cue, 150 will get you a decent cue with pretty splices 200 will get you a top makers name 300 a top makers near top cue 400 just about anything and for £500 you could well get the cuebuilders missus for the week thrown in too but just having your own cue even if it's a 2nd hand £10 one is priceless.

With £250 to play with you've really got to decide what exactly you want/like because even with the decline in numbers of cuebuilders in the uk the choice is pretty big.

    edit..

Unless your more specific this thread will get pretty big too i imagine so i'lll start the ball rolling...

250 quid will buy a nice cue (nicer than id probably want to go most places i play pool to be honest ), ie it will be nicely made and finished, but no guarantees it will play well for YOU. A while back i acquired a very knackered old 1 piece ash powerglide. Ive more or less finished refurbing it to a useable state (needed straightening, new ferrule, lot of cleaning etc). Total cost of the cue is probably <5 quid. However it plays like a dream for me (for pool at any rate)

I would advise trying a cue if at all possible. However if owning a really nice cue is part of the appeal then by all means go for it, nothing wrong with that, I dont know of any cue makers that offer immediate despatch on higher range stuff though myself. Perhaps someone else does.

Thanks guys and sorry about that Bitter. Trevor has confirmed he built that cue too so I am a lucky guy. Seems like I sorted my cue problem out within 24 hours, it is more than I could have hoped for! I will let you lot know how I get on when I get it. Thanks again!

Crackin cue, you would have had to pay more for it had I seen it listed though.

If you can find a fault with it I think you'll be the very first to complain about one of Trevors cues.

I cannot believe how lucky I am and I haven't even got it yet! Just wonder if Trevor could possibly let me know the specification of the cue (what woods colours etc as that would be superb!), must have cost over £300 when new? It says it is a year old. Any ideas?

I don't want to put you off or anything but the cue you bought has been listed on Ebay about 3 or 4 times now, each by a different seller. Could be coincidence but I'm guessing that a few people have bought it, not got on with it for whatever reason and have sold it on.

Because of that I can only assume that is why it only sold for £130 odd as most people that look at the cues on Ebay have probably seen this before too. Just hope you get on with it and it isn't a dud!

Thanks cueman, have checked with Trevor himself. He remembers the cue and has given me the specification and his details. Hopefully all will be good!

I think the fact it was spelt tevor helped a bit

I have bought a couple of Trevors cues on ebay that have not been listed has Trevor White.

                            The badge helps......
