  • Barracuda Gold Medal replacement shaft

I played pool with my 18 years old snooker cue and with a hard sidespin stroke I managed to break my shaft (4 inches from tip off).

So does anyone know if there are any replacement shafts available or did barracuda use any kind of standard joint at that time so another cue maker's shaft would be suitable?

The thread pattern of the gold medal might be compatible with John Parris joints, (even though the two are different in length) though you'd need to check your own joint to be sure.

Your problem there is going to be getting an old Parris shaft to fit the joint diameter perfectly anyway, so there's little to gain from doing it, as it's almost certain the cue will need to be altered to the correct length and totally re-finished.

I would say you have two options, which realistically are......

    1) get a new shaft made and replace the joint altogether.

    2) get the existing cue lengthened in the butt and have the shaft re-tapered to suit.

I have no idea whether there's anyone in Finland who does this kind of work, sorry.

from experience i would say gor for option 2 - the first one you might as well buy a new cue.
