  • Cue snapping sound

    Hi, People at snooker forum

I need some advice on what to do because my cue, a powerglide quarter, makes a cracking sound everytime i hit the white ball, checked how the parts are fitted together, this only started yesterday morning, i have changed the tip once if that is relevant.

    Please reply soon

Well im not as experienced as others here but I would check the joint if its screwed properly and if not i would say the cue might be cracked...

yes the joints are screwed properly, and i saw somewhere else that it could be that the tip is loose, it looks fine and there are no visible cracks.

There are a few medium depth scratches and the chalk gets stuck inside :

      But apart from those, nothing.

        Hi Paksnooker,
If the noise only started yesterday, how long have you been able to see the crack? Most noisy cues seem to be because of a loose ferrule, try tapping the shaft against the heel of your palm, move it up and down and around. You can often identify the area that is causing it this way.
If it's because it is split, there's not a lot you can do but start saving,I've been using a split cue for years and years and then, last year, the end just dropped off-during a match.Unbelievable.Hope yours doesn't suffer the same fate.

the crack has been there for ages, it happened because i acciddently scraped it against a wall, but now i just reshaped my tip, you know, just sand it down, couldnt be bothered to change it, and the sound reduced a bit, its like a less version of a miscue sound.

And about the shaft, it is not ash, its hardwood i think and the end is bendy, not a lot, but still bendy and the same sound comes when i tap the end

your joint could be loose, or a weight could be loose, or your joint could be dirty so its not making contact properly. i dunno all posibilities
