I'll jump in first... that was a giggle to read...

My first cue was £20 from Argos in Crewe and I'd've kept it to this day if it was stolen out of my car... to give your existing cue a chance, Damp'n'Dry... clean it properly then the next time you go down and play, get two bar towels and dampen one and keep the other dry. When you feel it getting difficult to cue smoothly, take the damp cloth and clasp it a few inches below the tip and pull it down to remove the chalk that's embedded into it. Then get the other one and dry it off; it should now be very smooth especially if you've washed your hands recently.

What you can try, is get the cue out at home and get some kitchen towel and with a very weak mixture of washing-up liquid and water, clean the cue and see how much dirt comes off it - the whiter the material the better, then buff it up and test it on your bridge hand.

As for buying one if this doesn't work, there's quite a few Members with good experience and even some that are in the trade too. At least you'll either be able to sell it or pass it on with more confidence that you've given it a chance.

Use the SEARCH facility too, that'll give you some help, or find a Member like Cueman, GreenBaize etc and do a search on their posts as they've contributed quite a few posts in cue buying threads; SuperDude & JayJay chip in too, some for overseas buyers even.

My experience was to read a mound of Snooker Mags and decide that instead of a stereo or car, I'd get a cue and went into London to see John Parris and I'm using that one to this day... 14yrs later. (Although coming out of the Club having picked up the Drawsheets for my Comps tonight, I threw the white from baulk down at the pink off it's spot and it slapped into the heart of the corner pocket - who needs cues! a few startled stares followed me out of the match room)
Head Still... Follow Through... Keep it Tight... Never Give Up... Ton 'em if you can!

I was thinking of geting a replica from here too. I once played agaist someone from Newcastle who had one of Tony's cues and it looked really good. I once saw an ions Burwat champion on Ebay looked really nice but sold for about £200. You might as well get one made for that money.
Are the replicas the same price to buy as his standard cues?

              Hi,

Most players like to have their own cue at some stage and when you have been playing for some time you will want a cue that suits you. A hand made cue gives you the chance to design your own cue i.e. length. weight etc.
You will also play more confidently when you know that the cue you pick up is going to be the same every time. John Parris is one of the best cue makers in the game.
