Pool Table Lighting Advice Please

Hi, I'm about to order a 7' pool table so I'm thinking about getting a light fitted into the room so that it's ready before the table comes. Ceiling in the room is 9' high. Is the bar with 3 shades the best type to go for such as this?

Also wondered what is the best height for the light to be fitted at? And finally bulbs, can you use low energy led bulbs or what is recommended?

5ft double florescent with white light tubes in. Not the prettiest, but give the best light by miles imo. For the chain hanging fittings and fitting, try screwfix.

Thanks, I have looked into it a bit an high frequency ones seem to be the way to go as they do not flicker. Do you think this one would be suitable. I'm looking for something that the wife might find acceptable

Yes they are a nice design , as long as they do not also give upward light you will be ok with them , I have seen a set of upward as well as downward lights over a table and the back reflection just puts a shadow of the light fitting on the table .

You can buy them with both way lighting so just make sure it is downward only , and yes only high frequency

It's very easy to get the lighting wrong. Then for all the effort you've put in, you are constantly disappointed. I had some lovely downlighting in. Looked great but performed poorly. You're on the right track, but like Geoff said, the light has to be directed down. I'll try and post a picture of mine, which I think is by far the best performer with the white light tubes in.

The camera flash lit the whole room. Looks better with just that light on highlighting the playing surface.
