now barry hearn is at the healm will there be a new format of qualifying for the main tour? what options are currently available to get on it, and if applicable what changes will be made?

There are a number of ways to get on the tour. You can take part in the Pro-Ticket tour being run by the EASB. There's the PIOS Tour (Pontins). And I believe English Amateur is another way.

Yes the English Amateur only provides ranking points to the Pro-Ticket Tour (which has a pro place for the number one in rankings and another for the winner of the play-off between the next 16 players in the rankings).

The World Amateur Champion (IBSF); European Amateur Champion; European Play-Offs Winner; Asian Under 21 Champion; Asian Amateur Champion; Welsh, Irish and Northern Irish Number Ones (no longer Scottish Number One); various wildcard/national nominations. These all qualify for spots on the Main Tour.

I get the feeling the goalposts for qualification may change over the next year or two after Barry Hearn's election as Chairman of WPBSA.
