A SCOTLAND international is part-funding his trip to China this week with £500 winnings from the first leg of the English Ranking Series.
Eden Sharav, originally from Alloa but now living in Gloucester, compiled a century in a 5-3 victory over Oldham’s Michael Wild in the final at Midlands Snooker Academy Walsall.
“It was a great day with great playing conditions,” said the 22-year-old, who was docked a frame for arriving ten minutes late for his quarter-final match against Johnathan Bagley (Leeds).
“I scored some good wins over the weekend, including a nice (4-2) result in the semi-final against Adam Duffy (Sheffield).”
Sharav, who is based at the South West Snooker Academy, paid tribute to the organisers and his sponsor.
“Thanks to Saqib Nasir and his dad for hosting the event,” he said. “The hospitality was great and I look forward to playing there again.
“And I’m very thankful to Hassan Vaizie for sponsoring me. The time he’s putting into me is highly appreciated.”
Sharav finished the 2014 Q School top of the rankings list for non-qualifiers and heads to China later this week for the second leg of the Asian PTC and the last 64 of the International Championship.
Luke Garland (Birmingham) pocketed the high-break prize of £50 for a 126 in a 4-1 first-round defeat by Sam Thistlewhite (Sheffield).
