no cos it's like a slide on a trombone sort of... shorten it for little shots and off th cush, lengthen it for extreme power shots... it's flexible, but for your 4-6 out of 10 shot which is most of them then you're consistently in the same groove.

good point about the rest. i wasn't coached so didn't know that but being vertically challenged i evolved my own rest method from day one.

What the hell has this got to do with terry griffiths!!!??? lol
Man I have caused a few arguments with this thread Sorry for that but most of the aggressors seem to be the people who can't deal with the fact that its expensive to see terry!...

Oh well, I played so well tonight with my new style and i am at one with my action. Piece of mind is what i sought after and i am on my way to clarity which is important for any snooker player :snooker:

By the way...seeing as its getting quite heated, Jonplayer I have a massive bone to pick with you. I don't believe that your highest match break is as high as you say it is...PROVE IT! We all need to be truthful otherwise it descends into farce.
Damn, you have found me out. I'm a fraud
Forget it, Donny, you're out of your element

Just my opinion - if someone works hard for their money then they can do what they like with it. if thats what they feel like doing fair play. As for me 120 sterlings will get a half decent woman so no thanks terry

at the end of it all though a coach is much more than what they have done previously, they have to sometimes be phsycology experts as well to be able to put things in a way you understand it, and believe me from years gone by when i was a fully qualified canoeing instructor, everyone is different and has different ways of memorising and learning things..

a good coach in any sport would be worth top money, and they might not be the best at participating in said sports but know the fundamentals and how to do it to the highest level and be able to pass that on to others in a way that each different individual understands and can appreciate..

going back to the football analogy, alex ferguson wasnt the greatest of players but by god he is the greatest of managers.

its not what the coach gets out of you its what you get out of a particular coach that makes something priceless

my own opinion on this is that everyone's different, what works for one person may not work for the other.

terry griffiths almost finished mark williams career, fact, messed with his head, tried to alter his cueing action etc etc, as i understand it, williams was close to calling it a day!

when someone's as naturally gifted as williams, you dont try to change them, just let them play. since he left griffiths he's back up to number 2 isnt he? and pretty sure hendry's also left him now too?

i see marco fu saw what happened with williams and only wants help with the psychological side of things, and doesnt want griffiths to alter his cueing!

i'm not saying griffiths is a bad coach, not at all, but nobody's got a migic wand.

                  only my opinion.

But terry has changed marco's cueing though..

(for the better by the look of his form of late too)

Well it's not is it, marco's played some of the best snooker i've seen him play for a long time in a few tourneys of late.

He has changed his grip a little...

Although Terry Griffiths seems pricey for us normal people if I was a professional struggling with my game I would happily pay a few hundred pound to turn my game around. It must also be remembered that Terry also helps with the mental side of the game and there are very few coaches with his experience at the top level. He has won the World, Masters and UK and surely would have won more if it werent for Davis. I would rather have someone in my corner with this experience than a coach who has never even been to the crucible never mind played ) The matchroom have also created a great piece of software to analyse a cue action, meaning you can be compared to all the top players with all your problems looked at in detail. I think if Terry charges the prices quoted and people are willing to pay then good luck to him. I agree that for the club player the price seems outrageous but I think if you see Terry in most cases you will probably be or thinking of being a professional or a snooker coach. In this case I think he is worth it.
coaching is not just for the pros

Marco was a good player long before Terry got hold of him - but Marco is hardly text book - he moves a mile on the shot and thats why his long game goes when under pressure.

Yes, marco was a good player long before terry got hold of him, but he lost his way for a long while and now seems to be finding some form again. Which is nice to see...

Yes marco moves/lifts his head a lot of movement going on. he never had any coaching when younger and picked up bad habits he's not able to get out of his game.. He'll never be able to get lifting his head on a shot out of his game now.

Terry has just helped him find a happy medium and helped marco find what works best for him. seems to be working for him at the mo...
