  • General Advice on better technique - Youtube video

So me and my pal Rob have been playing for about a year and are just joining the local team. We want to take the league by storm (because the league is pretty average) but need to be playing slightly better. So tips would be great.

I'm the guy in black, and rob's the guy with a purple shirt on. This is just the first 10 minutes of your average frame.

My high break is 32 (39 lineup), had a few 30's and a bunch of 20's, but my technique is all over the place. From I see, as far as textbook goes, I'm a mile off. I move quite a lot on the shot. I cues over my right eye, not directly over my chin, most of the time, though sometimes it does feel natural to cue over my chin, most of the time it feels aweful and I can't pot jack. I deliver the cue pretty straight the majority of the time, but sometimes I throw in an absolute hound of a shot (usually when hitting the ball hard, screwing usually). Bridge hand seems firm on most shots but hand on the cushion bridge is pretty aweful, and if I try and pot a ball from tight on the OJ Kush, I find it hard enough hitting the right side of it. Even if I hold the cue quite far down. Just terrible off the cush. My wrist looks a bit weird playing it back, seems to be bent it quite a bit, should it be more straight?

Rob's HB is 37, and a couple of 20's. He seems to have a much better natural technique than me, cues directly over his chin, and really straight. (However I probably win 80% of our frames, I'm a lot better tactically and play for the colours into better space so that if I miss the red I won't leave the cue ball plum on another red). I think his main flaws are lack of concentration and maybe lack of knowledge of position.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm a man of all sports, really good pool player (don't need much technique for that flimsy clumsy game :P) and pretty good at darts and climbing and BMX, and Moto-X and tennis. Just want to get better at snooker now Making a 50 is the dream. Thanks guys.

Excuse the foul language and crude conversation if there is any....
