  • A throwing motion?

"The classic pool stroke is a throwing motion."

I have read many refrences to the correct cue action working like a throwing motion in pool instructional articles, but never have i heard such a description in the world of snooker.

"Let us describe the feeling of the perfect stroke. Imagine that you have a beanbag tucked in your hand and resting on your fingers as a cue would be. If you just toss that bag under-handed across a room 10 feet you have felt what the proper stroke should feel like." (http://www.azbilliards.com/instructional/b4.cfm)

Is there anyone on the forum with a cue action anywhere near perfect? would you describe the cue-action as a "throwing motion"?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

A throwing motion would describe my cue action perfectly! I've practiced on a small table so much that the pots seem easy and I tend to be a little careless about my cue action, I've never heard of the 'throwing action' either, but in pool one doesn't need to be as careful about the cue action as in Snooker, where you'd never get away with that (unless your Alex Higgins!).
Its fun throwing yourself into the shot in practise, I love the spin you can get!

i once had that throwing motion cue action corrected by a coach.
what he did to convince me of that change was to ask me to play a stun follow-through... and I couldn't do it.
After changing the grip (more squeeze on the butt) those shots seems easier and I got it on the 2nd try.

yes i tend too do that alot too, throw myself at the shot

for some reason in my head i feel like it gives u more power when of course it dosent, it just makes u look like an amatuar and makes u miss the shot completely!

so i try too stay as still as possible, stephen lee is a good one too watch for that
