  • Lancastle leads RJT South in debut season

A BRISTOL teenager has taken another step towards his dream of making a career in snooker.

Thomas Lancastle has claimed a first tournament win on the EASB (English Association of Billiards & Snooker) Regional Junior Tour South and now heads the rankings.

A 2-0 victory over Danny Hawkins in the third-leg final at Cambridge Snooker Centre elevated the 17-year-old to pole position in the race for promotion to the EASB Premier Junior Tour.

“I felt happy and comfortable with the way I played,” he said.

“It’s my aim to stay in the top six, which will enable me to get through to the Premier Tour, which will mean a lot to me as I would like to make snooker my career one day.”

Still in his debut season on the tour, Lancastle, who pocketed £100, beat leg-one winner Mark Lloyd, 14, 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Leg-two winner Jamie Hawkins (Bristol) was knocked out in the semi-finals 2-1 by his brother Danny.

Lloyd (Gosport) pocketed the £20 high-break prize for a run of 58 in the round-robin group stages

The fourth leg is at the Castle Snooker Club, Brighton, on Saturday, February 22.
