I've been reading all these posts about different tables available at your clubs (Star, Westbury, Aristocrat, etc). Count yourself lucky, fellas, I'm a Brit in Canada and we're pretty starved for clubs. I got the name of a place in Toronto that I'd never heard of so I thought I'd give them a call to see what's there. I asked the guy what type of tables he had and he said some were wood and some were Formica. I said, no sorry, I meant what type of snooker tables. I heard him call out to someone else to ask what type of snooker table they had. I heard the reply: "The blue ones are pool, the green ones are snooker". I hung up.

Not many clubs over here are that good, a lot are run by people who don't have an interest in snooker and the tables are poor. You are hearing about the exceptions on here not the rule.

WPBSA Rules
With the cue ball in hand, at start of frame or after being pocketed or forced off the table, the striker plays the white from outside the D.
I assume this is a foul and that the cue ball is still in hand for the next stroke.
If the striker in playing the white outside the D also fails to hit a red, I assume it cannot be called a Foul and a Miss.
Would be pleased to hear your comments.

You’re just being plain stupid Arnold, sorry to tell you, but you are… (but I think you know that already , with your fishing/wind-up and naive statements)

Let me tell you right now just to clear things up and save you wasting everyone’s time! As someone who has worked on snooker tables I can say there is absolutely NO CHANCE of finding ANY respectable table fitter that will move ANY full size, slate bed snooker table without dismantling it! END OF STORY .

Perhaps try ringing NASA! You might have better luck with those guys!

I would still like to contact table fitters who DO move tables without dismantling if anyone knows contact details.

You have as much access to the Internet as everyone else. All the table fitters available will be on it somewhere, just contact them, good luck.

NASA can move a huge rocket a large distance whilst it is still standing errect on its platform.
It should not take rocket science to move a snooker table that only weighs 1100kg a few metres using human inteligence and skills.(mikee not invited).

That is how I read it

But he's on about hiring tables fitters, who won't do what he wants, so he's willing to pay money for the job. Just take the slates off and move the frame, it's by far the easiest way.

I don't know what you want. You hire any company to try that and the cost will be more or equal to a partial dismantle and move. Remember they won't have to totally dismantle it, just down to taking the slates off then a few of you can move the whole frame, replace the slates, either new recover or a stretch of the old cloth, cushions and pockets back on and bobs yer uncle.

to be fair NASA was not moving objects made with 100 year old wood and fragile slate; also they had millions of dollars to spend on scientists and engineers to work things out many months if not years in advance LOL

you asked for such information before and got several warnings of not to try this method.

Go with what you have and I hope you have a guarantee from any movers that they will fix anything that goes wrong?

I wouldn’t recommend anyone that try’s to move a full size table without dismantling it ,the same as you can’t close the pockets up with out a re rubber unless you do some half ass health Robinson job .You seem hell bent on doing a cheap job that will cost you lots more in the end and more than likely ruin the table .Why ask for advice then Refuse to take it or belive it .
