  • Pro Ams and handicaps

Hi all. I am new to all this technology so please go easy on me! I have been playing snooker for nearly 20 years and have recently started to practice again after playing once a week for the last 5 years. Im really enjoying the practice side of the game and have been clearing the line up now and again and making say 70s and 80s quite regularly. But when I go into games it all falls apart and start going through the motions . (very frustrating) Any tips on taking good practice into games would be gratefully received! Also been trying to find any pro ams and handicaps in and around the Yorkshire area . I am willing to travel a bit. I do know of the ones at NSC in Leeds. I have also found a club scratch comp in pontefract but not sure whether it would be right to enter as I have never played there before.
    Cheers

      yorkshire:

To answer your question, I'm afraid there is no 'silver bullet' on how to bring your practice game to the match table. Every pro in existence and probably every other player too would love to be able to do this.

The answer I'm afraid is to get as much MATCH practice as you can, by playing in every tournament you can. I see you're already trying to do that so I think you're on the right track.

I lost in the semi of a local comp yesterday to Zack Richardson (who played for England at the HI). He had a 75,63,54,45,42,and 38 and beat me 3-2!

Sorry to see you didn't make it through to the last 16 of the masters this year. Tough going - two guys had tons and didn't qualify.

Yes i remember zack nice player and 3-2 lol thats enough scoring for a 4-0 !, ive not hit a decent patch of form for a while paul i am struggling like hell so to say and with confidence dented its hard to get any form.

ah well always next season eh

Good luck in final stages mate i might pay a watching visit

Tough school Leeds comps though mate. You have to bear in mind that the strength in depth of the field is truly terrific and only one person can win!
