making a cue

hi All
I am a bench joiner that is going to have a go at making a cue for myself. Does any one know a good way to accurately fit a 3/4 joint to a snooker cue without spending hundreds of pounds on lathes or similar machines. I have a small lathe but it hasn't got the capacity to drill the end of a cue or the but.
If any one knows of attachments for lathes that would work then that would be a big help.
