hopefully they'll be pleased with the viewing figures which I guess must be their final arbiter ... more people watching equals more money they can ask advertisers for ...
True. Still, I watched it all on live stream.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins. I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
well that raises a really interesting question ... ITV4 clearly had a geo restriction in it's contract to UK only and I don't know if there was an official broadcaster for the Australian (or other) region ...
but I suspect it's why the TV channels don't seem to go too hard after the likes of sportlemon, cricfree etc ... they are obviously less than legal but at the end of the day they provide more viewers worldwide and hence more potential advertising revenue for the TV channels ...

Snooker coverage in Australia is as rare as hen's teeth. Fox (pay TV) has some limited coverage, but it is normally only an hours highlight package weeks/months after the event. Last year a guy at the club was telling me how Neil Robertson was doing well in a tournament. Then I realised it was months ago and only now being shown. I should have bet him a fiver on the result of the next match.

I agree, great coverage and it's nice to see that ITV has finally seen the light and started to air Snooker = more Snooker for us.
I like Bingham and I often root for him when he isnt playing Ronnie, but I dont think it would have been right for him to hold the Champions of Champions title, after all winning a couple of lesser events hardly makes one a champion.
Surely there are only a few real Snooker Champions worthy to be called the champion of champions ?
Ronnie,
Hendry,
Ginger,
Alex,
Jimmy (wild card)
Fred and Joe.
All these were worthy in their own era, and that means that Ronnie is not only the worthy winner, but the only candidate.
whoever had won would have been a worthy winner because the field was made up of all the previous years event champions, as happens in other sports champion of champion formats, maybe the system is too complex for you? of your other contenders 3 are dead significantly reducing their chances of victory
it appears that ronnie has gone back to his habits of old after his 2 year stint with steve peters. both here and in antwerp, there were many very low percentage shots he played with no safety in mind (and he missed most of them to let stuart in). one has to feel that he is bored and literally trolling on the snooker table again. which doesn't bode well for him @2014 WSC. interesting to note that his stint with ray reardon was also 2 years (2004, 2005) and after that he completely went off the boil for a year
Ronnie looks unfocused, disinterested in competing and is playing very loose shots that a club player would do in a friendly match - I hate to say this but this does not bode well for the season and his career
"
He didnt look disinterested to me. Far from it. He was trying hard throughout the tornament. Was showing small signs of frustration due to the fact he wasnt playing his A game but dont we all!

I would agree with that... He had a couple of emotional reactions after bad shots, but I don't think he ever played anything silly. He competed in the safety very well all week, even when it went on for a while, and he battled for every frame.
He came through three close matches, and you could say he had a lot of luck not to go out before the final, particularly in the 9th frame against Ding where he fluked a red that kept him in the match, but at the same time he was wasting so many chances... He could have won this tournament convincingly with his usual high scoring, so chances are he plays even better in the UK.
