Yep. You know with Selby that you've to take him out when you get the chances. If you don't then he'll claw the frame away from you. As soon as it got scrappy. I knew Selby would win.

    • Somehow it was all the more fun to watch that frame of snooker when it brought me 250£ plus a bottle of wine influence .. loved it
.... I backed Selby to win from 5-3 down because I knew he COULD and he DID it!!!! Well played Hawkins though .. he laid some great snookers but got to say if he had had any bottle he would have won long time ago.

      • Cracking match and what a final deciding frame. Selby really is something else, obviously completely oblivious to those two little words "Give" and "Up".
Hard luck to Barry as well, but he was up against granite tonight.

        The fast and the furious,
        The slow and labourious,
All of us, glorious parts of the whole!

That snooker he laid behind the pink, using the rest, was one of the best shots I've ever seen. Selby misses, leaves a free ball, and Hawkins has no real choice but to try and pot the pink. I would have bet every limb on my body and two balls of my own that Hawkins wasn't going to pot that pink. The pressure, and the awkward way he had to hold the rest over the blue, it was no surprise at all when he missed the ball altogether and ended up hitting it from behind.

According to pretty much everyone I play, I'm the luckiest player ever so Selby isn't having that crown To be fair there is no such thing as luck, it's a human construct to try and find correlation in random events. Selby may have had the run at the end but it happens both ways.

This may be elevating him well above his station but I'm thinking this generations John Higgins (great all round game, excellent break builder & seems to handle pressure better than most) & Mark Williams (can tough it out in the scrappiest of frames & is never really out of the frame if you give him a reason to come back to the table)

I'm pretty sure that crown is worn by my snooker partner.

                • Hitting the pink from behind is never a bad result! Nearly got the snooker ;-)

                    • Not worthy to create a new thread, but Ding's two centuries yesterday has seen him go to fourth on the century makers list overtaking Steve Davis. Hendry, O'Sullivan and J. Higgins in front of him.

                      • Well Done Selby, that guy is tough as nails never gives up, tenacious or what. how many players can come back from 4-2 and 5-3 down, amazing in a best of 11.
gripping drama and a brilliant match.

Yes very lucky, what bothers me more is his deliberate slow play to put his opponents off, boils my p*ss

Yes, and Jimmy White got his 300.th century during the tournament as well. Very much is needed to create headlines about centuries these days.

As defending world champion he´s in the draw, so the masters is top15 plus the world champion.
