  • C.Everton & T.Griffiths

As I type, whilst watching Snooker Extra, I am listening to a good old chat (almost an argument), between these two.

Subject: our World Champion's personality and the public opinion of him. I think Terry won in this instance.

    Comments please?

[nothing against you mind, Clive, as I like your view point also.]

I missed this, would be interested to know what was said

I cant really comment fairly on Dotts personality. All i know of him is how he has been portrayed by the media and how he comes across in interviews and what he is quoted as having said - seemingly a whinger with a chip on his shoulder. I have no idea if this is a fair reflection of him or not.

Snooker Extra was a bit late for me.

I quite like the two Welshmen commentating; they seem to chat a bit with each other, like you say.

So what was the gist of this argument?

I like Terry Griffiths in the commentary box. His wittiness and accent makes it a perfect combination. He also does not like it when the other commentator is slagging off players constantly and vents his opinion directly at the culprit.

To be honest some people see Dott's honesty as whinging when it's not, he say's what he feels at press conferences and if it's not the usual sugar coated comments that most of the players say, well good for him I say.

I think Terry is the best commentator. Laid back, knows what he's talking about and witty.

I didn't hear the argument, but Dott seems to have a good sense of humour and be a nice guy. I don't care for his complaints about not being appriciated, i think he should just let his results speak for themselves. He's the world champ, simple as that.

Anyway, if you want "real" personalty go watch Ronnie say he hates snooker and Alex Higgins making a fool of himself at drunken press conferences....

Clive was on about Dott not getting the recognition he deserves as he doesn't have a very colourful life away from the table. He also said (as Dott was steaming around the table sending balls crashing into the pockets at high speed), he [Dott] had felt hurt by people constantly calling him slow and boring. Terry, of course, was full of praise for Graeme's style of play. I can't remember much more due to the lateness of the hour (and I was drunk!! ).
