I know that depression is an illness that you never 100% recover from but it's particularly disappointing when Paul Hunter played for a full season in serious pain/discomfort yet Ronnie quits here cos he's fed up.

That is a very unfair comparison! The two diseases are quite different, and that is the whole thing with depression - you do become unstable. I don't think there is an excuse for what Ronnie did there, it was bad sportsmanship and should not have happened, but let's keep the cancer/mental illness comparison away, shall we? Apples and pears.
