Miss Higgins! Surely he can't steal this one? Though I don't see that much of a problem with clearing the table

I think it's done according to the rankings, so, you're right

        Higgins cruising to 7-1 now..

Then, a miracle hands the frame to Carter..
        All the way Mark J!!

Finally a lucky break for Carter with Higgins going in off after he missed the pink in the middle. I thought he was going to roll it in and play safe off the black left in that position.

I knew the pink was going to be the problem. It would have been so demoralizing if he cleared the table there.

There is still a chance for Carter if he can start well in the evening.

Phew!!! 6-2 and a glimpse of hope for Ali but he should make a better start in the evening & hopefully his bad luck would turn slightly

              Come ON Ali!!!:snooker::snooker::snooker:

It is annoying but Ali wasn't particularly unlucky in this session. Higgins was too strong early on, did big break every time he got a chance and left Ali cold. Lady Fortuna didn't play that big part this afternoon.

Agreed... Higgins was by far the stronger of the two, especially early on but he also had a couple of favourable kisses from lady luck that kept him going! Ali had a very unfavourable kick... Put those together & the score could have easily been 5-3 Higgins

Now I'm not one that would go on moaning about what if's & should have's but I'm still pretty annoyed for Ali

And you're forgetting a very important factor...

Purple Power!!! I need very.tee, mushka & Kathrin... Can't do it all by myself

Yay, would have been such a beautiful steal without that miracle!
But at least now there's a slight chance of match-on in the evening.

Didn't find the draw online anywhere, but if I figured that out right, then the draw looks pretty hampered for Ronnie or MJW both... MJW has Stephen Lee or Milkins from qualifiers, Ronnie has Dott; then both have each other; and then whoever wins gets Selby next... Assuming then Selby was good but they (R or MJW) beat him, should deal with Meggy/Allen/Ebdon too; and then hope that in the other side of the draw Higgi/Robbo/Murph/Ding got each other so tired that they can take the title

If any of these two( or of course any of their opponents ) can come out of such a draw and win the title, this may be the toughest path to the world title in years..

Still, Stephen Hendry's 1999 campaign is hard to believe. Hunter, Wattana, Stevens, Ronnie and MJW is possibly the most difficult opposition he could have received. The only missing piece is John Higgins, who fell to Mark Williams in the other semi final.. I remember this tournament as a milestone, possibly because it's the reason I have never cheered for Hendry against any other player on the tour in the last decade

Not quite... The 16 qualifiers are drawn randomly against the top16, so O'Sullivan could get anyone in the 1st round. But yes, he would then probably play Williams in the 2nd round, and Selby (or Hendry) in the QF. That's about as tough as he could have got as the 2nd seed.

Oh well, didn't know about that part It means then he can draw someone like Waldo, Wenbo or Stevens for R1 still, just to add to the fun (same goes for MJW).
He must be seriously jelous to Maguire as world no.2 with this year's draws in the tournaments in general... So much that could be looking forward to finally be no.2 next year

Robbo's potting is so good he doesn't need to bother with positional play like the rest of the players. He laughs in the face of those who spend hours on the practice table perfecting their cue ball control! ~ Forman

Wow, that sounds like something... And so long ago, about 10 years before I started to watch snooker

Anyways, for any of the two (Ron & Higgi), ok and MJW, exactly this year and not any later could be their best another shot for WC. Years will be kicking-in, not just in relation to them themselves - the younger crowd is not planning to get weaker either.

Ok, but getting closer to the thread topic, the final is still on... Higgi about to get 21st ranking title under his belt, just 1 short of Ronnie's number. If he gets WC this year, he will basically overtake Ronnie on stats
