The current scoreline in the Trump - Gould match (11-5 to Trump) is more good news for Stephen Hendry. If Gould does indeed lose, that's two of Hendry's three major threats out of the way.

Williams looks like he will extend his lead at top tonight. Williams winning means Selby must reach the semi's at least, and Ding probably needs to win the event before either of them can pass him.

Hendry has retired so even if stuart bingham doesnt beat Ding he will be seeded for the first two ranking events next season think its the first time a world number 17 will have that possibility

I'm sure most people are aware, but if not...

If Bingham wins tonight, Stephen Hendry falls out of the Top 16 for the first time in his career. He joined the Top 16 in 1988 (as number 4) and has since spent a record 23 consecutive seasons there.

He has not retired. Please don't make unfounded claims in this thread.

All the headlines on the internet are saying "Hendry Ponders Retirement", which I'm sure you'll agree is a very different thing...

The more I think about it, the more silly it seems...

The ranking list is fixed for only 3 months these days; Hendry could be back in the 16 by Christmas.

Also, it's a new challenge. He might find he enjoys his snooker more.

To retire because you went from 16 to 17 is a bit drastic.

So only the battle for top 1 left, only Williams, Selby and Ding can take it. I don´t think that fills a lot in their head right now, but if Williams and Selby makes it to the final, it will be first time for many years that no. 1 and 2 meets each other in a final to decide who´s going to be number one. When was the last time that happened ?
