That's not true. Leo was always going to referee at the Crucible this year. Nobody has been drafted in at short notice. There are always 8 refs at the World Champs, 6 are there now, plus Jan and Terry Camilleri if they make it. The programme gets printed in advance and the 8 refs are in there with a picture and profile. Leo is in it, that wouldn't have been possible had he been brought in at short notice.

In the Stephen Maguire/Graham Dott match, Stephen was 11-1 down and in frame 13 had just potted the green into the bottom left corner pocket (as seen from the commentary box).

Michaela was walking around to collect the green but was distracted by a loud earpiece. After asking for the earpiece to be turned down she inadvertently picked up the cue ball

Eirian was the scorer but could not get the overlay image to see where the cue ball was originally. However, the image was avaialbe to the commentary team hence the plea for help.

As Michaela was respotting the green, Stephen kindly use his cue to point out where the green spot was located.

Clive was right (when has he EVER been wrong? ). Leo was asked to referee the game in the place of one of the referees who was stranded. What he did not say was that he had been added to the list of officiating referees. From what I can gather, they just switched the matches that two of the referees were due to be doing.

She is making mistake after mistake and everyone is defending her because of her looks.....Alan Chamberlain who was a far better referee is criticized in this forum for mistakes less important.
Tabb is way overrated IMO and if shes not getting more matches to ref is because shes not deserving to get them....

It isn't sexist to criticise Michaela for her mistakes. If anything it's you that's treating her differently, which is wrong even if you're on her side. Do you think the helpless little woman needs someone to stand up for her?

The facts are that she was fast tracked to where she is now, and she has made a couple of silly mistakes. I don't think she should be replaced as she hasn't done anything terrible, and she helps with the game's image. Maybe a superficial justification but if it helps with the public perception of the game to have an attractive young-ish woman get the balls out rather than an old man, I can live with that. You can say it's unfair on the older men that have more experience, but the world isn't fair. Anyway, the mistake with Maguire actually resulted in a nice little exhange, and the crowd got a kick out of it.

Still, some people are far too eager to shout "sexist" in cases like this. Just going on what attilahun has posted in this thread, I see none of that at all.
