Maguire v Perry next up. Gentleman Joe against Mad Mags! Should be fun.

Only kidding, Mr Maguire, sir.... :black_eyed:

Yes. I thought Trump would win in the end. He was a bit unluckily really and Marco manage to keep his composure and pushed over the line. It's a bit of shame that he come up against a Marco that was on form. If he had played any of the other first round matches. I'm sure he'd still be in the tournament. I've heard him complain about that before that people tend to play well against him.

Now getting to the next match. Really Maguire should win this but Perry like Marco is a much improved player. This could go all the way too.

There was a little interview mid session when Hazel was asking him questions about himself, his strengths, weaknesses etc. What stuck in my mind was when Hazel asked him about the mental side of the game and struggling and would he turn to someone like Steve Peters, who has turned Ronnie's game around. Judd said he wouldn't rule it out but right now he doesn't like anyone telling him what to do. Trouble is if you are too stubborn to see the error of your ways you'll carry on making the same mistakes over and over. I think he needs to change his practice base or get a coach, someone to nurture his talent into wins. Right now he is going nowhere and I can only see this slump continue indefinitely and he'll fall further down the rankings.
        I agree.
It's a fine line when your such a good potter but I think he needs to work on his shot selection and develop a B game so as to better evaluate risk.

          • Although Trump isn't in good form of late I still think he will come good in the end. There is still allot of snooker left to be played.

Yes. So do I. He was making 60's when he was 6 and knocking in centuries by the time he was 10 years old. He's a huge talent. I think the only thing that's holding him back is his mental approach but it appears his ego is too big at the moment to seek some professional advice.

I cant help but be impressed with Stephen Maguire so far. Seems confident at the table and looking like a man in control of his game.

He's got a phenomenal technique and he's super aggressive. Quite a killer combination.

                    EDIT:-

I see Perry's still practising his eyebrow raising exercises.

                    • Maggie is so frustrating ... bags of talent but can hardly ever keep it all together for a duration longer than 3 frames in a row ... must be hard to put up with himself ... so i kinda understand why he punches n moans

                      • Is Maguire using a Maple cue ? Not a lot of grain in evidence.

Yep good spot. He had used maple for years and he had had a fair few cues over the last 18 months or so from many makers but has seemed to settle now.

He was recently playing with a GBL cue, and just recently bought a 3/4 cue in same design from Stu, also getting 3 more made to try out. He also recently bought one off me

I didn't have the energy to list all the cues and makers he tried
