I don't really see the advantages on air lock joints, but maybe someone on this forum will tell if there is.
it's all about confidence and if you really like your connection system you'll play better ...
O'min, Welsh Pool Trading and Mike Wooldridge use them (although MW may have changed?)
oh and they go "phut" as you take them apart ...

Wow i was looking forward to my welshpool cue before... But now i really want it! I wanna hear the "phut"
I personally dont think the joint makes much difference though, stamford has a half wood joint thats supposed to retain more feel or something, but a brass joint is a brass joint isn't it?sigpic A Truly Beakerific Long Pot Sir!

it's not a huge noise but there's nothing more satisfying (imo) after winning a game to shove the 3/4 airlock joint close to your ear and listen to the little "phut" as you take it apart ...
of course, I normally lose so have to watch the other player simply undoing his or her conventional thread ... but I bet they don't enjoy winning as much as me with my airlock

was normally playing UK 8-ball with my old cue (Cannon Scorpion) and snooker with "Merlin" but the last couple of times, took Merlin down the pub ...
haven't lost a pool game since ... OK, I can't get as much spin on the ball with 10.1mm Merlin as I can with 9.4mm Scorpion but I can easily make up for that with consistency of line and pretty much perfect weight of shot ...
