Snooker is all about tinkering with certain things , especially when you not playing well . When your in the zone you dont have to think about nothing everything comes natural

When you start missing you look for reasons , from your stance , to your grip , even your cue action , tip and cue amongst others .

If youve changed something and are playing better and feel comfortable then stick with it . Sometime its psychological though .

Not sure about pros , but i persnally have never noticed this type of stance, it could be that you are not sighting the balls correctly , which has a major role to play in your technique, which is sometimes overlooked and can be the cause , not neccersaliy, grip, stance etc, hope this helps somewhat.

It sounds to be like you are using the stance describe by joe davis in his book. He describes this stance as that of a boxer. I think this kind of stance used to be the norm, this worked back then so if it works for you go with it. Any change will fill uncomfortable at first and only with many hours on the practice table will over come this. Good luck:snooker::snooker:

In snooker, NEVER, EVER, ever do anything which makes you uncomfortable. Comfort in the stance is the first rule of good snooker and should never be broken.

To get to the right stance for you there is a simple exercise. Get down into your normal stance with a comfortable hand-on-the-table shot. Now close your eyes and move your legs/feet (one at a time) back and forth and side-to-side until your reach the discomfort zone and then move them back to the most comfortable spot.

Better yet, see if you can get a copy of Nic Barrow's training DVDs where he shows a student exactly how to do this and he does it with all parts of the body, including feet, hips, bridge arm, bridge, right arm, head, eyes, etc. etc.
