  • black ball foul

Only blue, pink and black ball left on table, player A need to pot all balls to win frame, he makes blue and pink but fouls on black ball.
Player B wins frame unless score is equal.

    Correct ruling?

Yes, when only black is left on the table, the first foul ends the game, unless once the 7 penalty points are added to the scores, the scores are then level, in which case you have a respotted black. Players toss for who has choice as to whether to play or put the opponent in.

        Black ball foul.

I used to think that "any" foul on the black was game over, regardless of the score? So this is only an exception when the foul brings the scores level!!! Shame i can't claim back the frames ive conceded due to a lack of hind sight!:snooker: :snooker: :snooker:

Or! On a black ball game.

Hang on...What if after the foul on the black there is only 6 points in the frame, does the frame continue? the same as if there would be 7 points in it after the black ball foul, does the frame still continue? What is the concise ruling for this?

No, as I said in my last post, the first foul, when only black is left on the table, ends the frame (unless scores are then tied).

If you think logically about what you've said, the frame could go on forever, if each player kept fouling in turn. Player A is 6 points ahead but fouls, so B becomes 1 point ahead. B then fouls so it is back to A being 6 in front... The rule is a mechanism to stop this from happening, and a frame will end when the black is legally potted, or on the first foul when black is the only object ball left. It is NOT necessary to continue until the black is legally potted.

Just to add to the confusion, if it is an aggregate score match and the aggregate scores are level (despite the frame score), then it is a re-spotted black with the same players playing the final black and cue-ball in hand.
I have known some instances where after a pot on the final black has resulted in a tied aggregate score (or frame score), after the toss, even though the black has been re-spotted, the player has played from where the cue-ball has stopped and not from in hand!!!!
You are only the best on the day you win.
