  • Is the miss rule sh1t3?

Watching Selby trying his best to get out of a snooker. Lands so very close and miss called as rules dictate. Is this rule not all wrong?

No - that's exactly the sort of situation that you need the Miss rule for. Selby could hit a red easy peasy but chose not to so he doesn't leave anything on.

He has every right to attempt the shot he did but if he doesn't hit it then it's a miss all day long.

Also, just to show how good the professionals are, Jimmy White, in exhibition, has come off of 2 cushions and hit the pink without disturbing the reds.
Players are not just trying to hit the object ball when snookered. They are trying to hit the ball in such a way as to leave everything safe. The referee has every right to call 'Foul and a Miss'.
You are only the best on the day you win.
