I used to use one block of chalk per day. Just because after 5 or 6 hours use, the ditches were deep enough that if I used it another day the chalk woudl be 'too deep'. When the chalk it deep (ie the sides of it are high after much use), it tends to only chalk the sides of the tip and shape it into too much of a dome shape. The disadvantage of this almost semi circle tip shape is that, whilst it may be easier to put a bit more spin on the ball, it was a bit tougher to hit centre of cue ball because the flat spot on top of the tip was smaller.
Prior to this when the chalk got deep I would rub the chalk down on the pavement outside the club or, much to the chagrin fo the club owner at the time, behind the door of the club kitchen!

Elkmaster I used to use and change every three weeks. Why? Because the only way to make them consistent was to sand them down to be so thin they were almost at the end of their life when they were put on for the first time.
Elkmaster are so inconsistent in hardness throughout a box that I dont recommend it any more.
They also tear and split too easily.

I recommend Mike Wooldridge Super Tips - and adr147 on this forum also has all the other good tips on the market too if you want to ask his opinion on them. Pro granite i found TOO HARD, and talisman i have not used yet.
ADR147 says that the £12 per tip Kamui layered tips are prone to delaminating!

Interestingly, I have just used the $30 block of Kamui chalk...
It is almost like clay - much softer than triangle.
I dont know what the usp of the chalk is according to Kamui, but it does seem to grip the ball a tiny bit more for extra spin.
HOWEVER, it leaves huge chalk marks on the bed of the table and big dots of chalk on the cue ball such that I am scared of getting kicks. This may be an irrational fear as maybe chalk does not cause as many kicks as we think.
It is also SMALLER than a block of triangle chalk so i woudl really be interested in hearing from Kamui on what the benefit of the chalk is.
If i used a block of that every day I woudl be spending $10,000 a year on chalk alone!

Well if this chalk only helps a tiny bit and it leaves the table and balls in a mess, I would ban it from being used. The price is ridiculous. Now your regular chalk could last longer if you use the corners of the cube to wipe the tip. this would bring the chalk down more evenly and not create a giant hole. Simply remove some of the rapper as the chalk gets smaller.

If this Kamuii chalk is that messy it could possibly reduce the life or playability of the cloth. This makes it even more expensive.
