Ive been seriously thinking about laser eye surgery for quite some time now and was wondering if anyone on this forum has had it done & if so did you notice any significant improvements in your game.

I had laser eye surgery about 5 years ago as I couldn't get on with glasses and I was struggling with seeing the long shots. Since having it done my sight is perfect, I have upped my high break to 130 and I have had the best league season of my life.

Hello
I have had Lasik surgery since 2008? It has been about 5-6 years now.
I cannot say if I play better snooker because I just started to play "seriously" (as in I do practices and bought my own cue).
However a word of warning, lasik surgery can leave one with the unintended "halo" eyesight in low light conditions. And for snooker, we usually play in a low light room with bright lights on the table.
This low light situation may be made worse by undergoing the surgery.
Many people I know (including myself) can see badly at night, including driving.
Also, I have some problem with focusing since both eyes were individually corrected and hence the balance is somewhat "unnatural" as compared to mother-nature.
Would I do it again? Definitely yes because glasses are such a hassle when you do sports (I play tennis too).
Will it improve my snooker game? I won't bet on it.
Your eyes will get used to it, but I have sometimes difficulty focusing my "aim" (I also do pistol shooting).
Hope this helps.

ya ur right about taking a look at the long shots while on glasses , the spec slightly turn down a bit maybe and cause a blur sight
its not comfortable if u dont poke up the middle frame between both lens everytimes you get on long balls.
have you try lens contact

i used to wear glasses but couldn't play with them properly, long pots were impossible, i was told that laser wouldn't help me much as the correction in my right eye was too much so i had corrective lens replacements.
they replace the natural lenses in my eyes with artificial ones. its been 3.5 years now and i can see as good as when i was a teenager.
my vision hasn't deteriated either. i feel great.
with regards to playing better i can't really say because of the surgery i play better, i have only been playing for just over 4 years and i am still improving all the time despite my age, maybe my eyesight has something to do with it.
teenage eyesight in a mature body...lol , but all i can say is that my vision is greatLast edited by alabadi; 7 May 2013, 11:43 PM.
