As a snooker player I assume :P I'm from NZ, and until I came to the UK I didn't realise snooker even existed.. that should give you some idea of how popular it is there.. not sure who you'd even play against.. Seriously tho, I don't really know."Do unto others 20% better than you would expect them to do unto you, to correct for subjective error"

A strange question but non the less - You can turn pro from any country in the world. However, most of the pro competitions are in China and the UK, with a few in Europe, one in India(new this year) and one in Australia. So if you really mean can you live in New Zealand while earning a living as a pro then the answer is - probably not.I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

A New Zealander can turn pro by winning the Oceania tournament held each year or else coming to England and playing in the Q School held each year around May.
You would also have to consider moving to Britain as has been noted. Neil Robertson has had to do that and years ago all the Canadian pros moved to Britain too. You would never be able to live in NZ and fly to the tournaments as you would be jet lagged all the time.
